Why did they have to go and do that...
Now I don't know if I want a paragon or not.

That's not a surprise that they did that... plus it looks sweet... but some people love to complain so have at it...
On the flip side.. it looks like the Dervish can do something of it's own o_O

I'm not complaining for the sake of complaining. I just don't think wings on humans look nice.
I suppose it could be worse, they could be permanent.

Yeah its more of an Aura thing, like the glyphs that appear above your head when you cast a spell. So instead of a glyph, a pair of wings sprout on the paragons back. I think it will look much better in action than on a screenshot.

I great marketing idea would be to make this one of the collector edition things, an incentive to buy CE. The dervish could even have a special emote-thing as well!
But what do I know, I'm just....the 800 pound gorilla in your basement....eating your chips.

something I just thought of, that's not being said.
The title of the thread: Will the Paragon have wings in-game?
and from the Insider screenshot.
/begs the question: If the wings are skill based, wouldnt that mean all professions will be able to have "wings" in-game. (as just use 2ndary para for any charac class.)
/imagines how "wars" will look with wings...laff.
/ponder.

That is what i've assumed aswell. I mean it makes more sense than them having physical wings on their backs.

Thats a good point. Maybe its tied into the paragon animations and not the skill animations? What I mean is thats how they cast spells. Kind of like how if you give a war a scythe hes just going to swing it like a hammer but the Dervish will spin it around gracefully.
That would make more sense to me. Although that might also mean that they will get wings everytime they cast.
I guess I'll have to wait 5 days and 9 hours to see.

Yeah thats what I was thinking of too. It would be extremely odd to see real wings just randomly appear.

Even current skills have unique animations. Look at illusionary weaponary for example. A pink aura forming a sort of blade appears when casting in the users right hand.

if I ever make a paragon primary, it is definitely gonna be female... Male paragons with their kilt/skirt things plus these wings = ultimate fruitcake.

This is actually a valid and very good question. The pic shows us that the wing description works as it was described in the PCgamer Nov issue Magazine as saying that "the Paragon would raise into the air as his/her wings spread while casting buff or chants".
With the picture in mind, my prediction is as follows:
The wings are tied to Paragon Primary just as Avatar Transformation are tied to Dervish primaries. Meaning that the wings would trigger on certain sets of skills eg chants and buffs but wont have the same effect on other primary classes with a paragon secondary.
Reason?
Looking at the Ele class (being most similar to Paragon in terms of model) they also float a little when casting spells like firestorm and other AoEs, But do you see the same effect when you cast those with other primary classes? No each specific primary class has their own set of animations that govern the types and ways that the skill animations will be handled and hence it is reasonable enough to assume the same will apply to the Paragon as well.
In short the Wings graphical display is likely to be primary class specific rather than being tied to specific skill sets.

I doubt wings will be for shouts. ATM shouts just popup bubbles with no other large effects other than small auras around the character. AN excellent exmaple is "charge!".
